What it involves and costs
Before a move, skirting, steps, decks and anything attached come off, utilities are disconnected, and multi-section homes are split and sealed for the road. HomeGuide puts a separate teardown and setup at $3,000–$5,000 when not bundled into a full-service move.
Price your move with the moving cost calculator, or check an older home with the move checker.
Worth knowing
- Utilities are usually disconnected by licensed trades or the utility
- Porches, decks and carports are rebuilt at the new site
- Missing axles or tires must be sorted before transport
What to send movers
- Everything attached to the home
- Whether axles, tires and hitch are present
- Date the home must be out of its current lot
Questions
Do I need to remove skirting myself?
Not if you book full service; it is part of the job. On a transport-only booking, the home must be prepped before the mover arrives.
